ICT Platform



As part of the BalticAirCargoNet project the ICT platform is an innovative, automated transportation routing information system that shows in a suitable form the logistics chain from the consignor to the customer and all qualified service providers along this chain.




Airports, shipping operators and forwarding companies are constantly being confronted by new challenges at international level. The transport of goods has to be carried our fast and at low cost and high quality.

A clear and trustworthy communication between client and contractor is needed to fullfill these requirements on logistic services.

The online platform aims to optimise, support and facilitate this process. To sum up, the functionality offered via the platform can be described as follows:



When a potential client requests for specific logistic services through the BalticAirCargo.Net - ICT Platform, optimised routes are calculated by means of innovative methods and algorithms, and several logistic and handling service providers are detected along these routes according to their offer of services.

After that, these will be suggested to the client for reservation. In the next step, requests will be activated and sent to the selected contractor through the standardised interfaces.

The BACN ICT- platform helps regions to bundle single service providers to a cluster and shows this region as a service cluster region.

The company profile is an important precondition for the identification of logistic serviceproviders.



CHALLENGE: Quality assurance Dispatchers currently select a provider on the basis of the quality offered, exclusively if it has trusted references. Companies wishing to access new markets or to make a name in new circles of clients face, thus, the disadvantage of not having acknowledged references and having to awake the interest of new clients by the sole argument of pricing.



SOLUTION: Standardised service description



BACN.Imotris.Profile will enable to break down the barrier for information exchange between the logistic actors, by means of a standardised service description. BACN.Imotris.Profile solution approach has been developed in collaboration with logistic services providers. BACN.Imotris.Profile falls back on the current DIN SPEC 1001 of the German Institute for Standardization and has added further features to it, for all types of carriers.


Due to the information barrier between service providers and clients quality aspects may not have a sufficiently important role in the election of a provider and price stands as the main criterion.

BACN.Imotris.Routing - Intermodal routes with different modes of transport and determination of more suitable providers for each transport stretch.


BACN.Imotris.Routing serves as link between shippers and service providers.

BACN.Imotris.Adhoc



The BACN.Imotris.Adhoc functionality is for identifying the nearest service provider with free capacity for just in time orders.


Using the value-added service BACN.Imotris.Adhoc creates the possibility to use unused residual capacity of existing transport or fixed planned transport links. For this the ICT platform passed vehicle-related information on planned target points of the route as well as the intended time windows. This data can be entered manually or automatically by appropriate sensors. Incoming transportation requests are automatically assigned to the free transport capacity when the request data matches to the planned routes and the predefined operation range
